This 5-week course offers an ideal introduction to the many benefits of yoga.
Suitable for all, including those who are totally new to yoga, each class includes accessible movements, breath work, mindfulness practices and deep relaxation.
What to expect in this Beginner Yoga Course
Working through a series of movements to improve mobility, build strength and release tension, each class will help you to feel more connected to your body, and to explore new ways of moving.
By the end of the course you will confidently be able to join a group yoga class, with a clear understanding of the real essence of yoga beyond just the physical practice.
Through the practice of specific breathing exercises, you will learn to better manage stress and find some practical strategies for soothing your mind and improving your mood.
Questions you might have about our Beginner Yoga Course.
-
Yes. As long as you can get up and down from the ground unassisted, you can join the classes. Movements can be modified to support every body, regardless of age, size or flexibility levels.
-
Yoga has many benefits for the body and the mind. As we move mindfully, you will become more aware of your body’s tension patterns, and understand how to move with them to release them, rather than working against them, as you gradually become more mobile and stronger.
Working with the breath can be incredibly soothing for the nervous system, helping to reduce stress and promote a calmer outlook.
Every class ends with a deep, guided relaxation, which will invite your body and mind to release tension, let go of the stresses of the day and set you up for a good night’s sleep.
-
Yes. Regardless of your starting point, you will learn how to work WITH your body to create more ease in your movement, release tension and improve mobility. Where necessary, modifications will be offered, and props such as blankets, yoga blocks or straps can be used to ensure everyone enjoys the full benefit of every movement.
-
The classes are non-denominational and do not have any link with religion. While we draw from Eastern practices to learn techniques for calming the mind and helping you to feel more connected to yourself and those around you, these practices are in no way religious.
What happens once the course is finished?
By the end of the course, you should feel confident about joining a group yoga class, and will have a clear understanding of the many benefits a regular practice can bring. As you develop a consistent practice, you will become stronger and more flexible in your body, calmer and less stressed in your mind.
You will also be gifted a free place in a yoga class at Move Well, so you can come along and try out a regular, weekly class.
